    We are seeking a Kitchen Manager to oversee all aspects of kitchen operations and lead apprentices in a professional, supportive environment.

    • Manage day-to-day hot food kitchen operations.

    • Supervise apprentices, ensuring they gain hands-on culinary training.

    • Maintain food safety compliance, cleanliness, and kitchen organization.

    The Community Grocer is hiring Assistant Managers to support both our retail and kitchen operations. These roles are ideal for individuals with experience in food service, hospitality, or retail who want to grow with a mission-driven organization.

    Roles Available:

    • Assistant Retail Manager — supports the GM in running daily store operations, including staffing, payroll, and ordering.

    • Assistant Kitchen Manager — supports the Kitchen Manager in supervising apprentices and maintaining food safety.

    • Assistant Prep Manager — supports the Workforce Director in the prep kitchen, assisting with training and workflow.

    Responsibilities (vary by role):

    • Support leadership in managing daily operations.

    • Supervise apprentices and hourly staff during shifts.

    • Assist with scheduling, training, and compliance.

    • Help create a positive and efficient work environment.

    Qualifications:

    • 1–2 years of experience in retail, culinary, or hospitality.

    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, community-centered environment.

  • Paid Training Program, up to $16.50/hour

    The Community Grocer is launching a 12-month paid apprenticeship program in culinary, retail, and hospitality. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience, classroom instruction, and wraparound support while helping operate a new community grocery store and kitchen.

    Program Structure:

    • 30 hours/week of on-the-job training in retail and kitchen roles.

    • 6 hours/week of classroom instruction in hospitality and culinary skills.

    • 3 hours/week of wraparound services, including career readiness and personal development.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work alongside staff to operate the grocery store and hot kitchen.

    • Gain hands-on training in food prep, customer service, and hospitality.

    • Participate fully in classroom sessions and workforce development curriculum.

    • Contribute to a positive and community-driven environment.

    Qualifications:

    • No prior experience required.

    • Interest in food, retail, or hospitality careers.

    • Commitment to completing the full 12-month program.

    • Reliable, motivated, and eager to learn.
